Research story
As a graphic designer I want to explore foodways, identity, connection and cultural heritage so that I can document the way food can shape identity.

As a significant part of this project I would like to document peoples strories through food.
This will be done through a series of interviews documenting through oral history, video and photography.
Interview Questions
These will start with preliminary meetings to get a brief background of the person and function as a ice breaker to make the interview more relaxed.

When did you come to New Zealand
Tell me about your first memories of food either in your home country or parents making the food here (depending on what generation).
What are your earliest food memories?
What are your fondest food memories?
What is your favourite dish to eat or make and why?
Can you tell me about food from your culture?
How has this changed in New Zealand?
What does food from your culture mean to you?
How important is food in terms of expressing your culture and identity?
Are there any difficulties with cooking your culture's food in New Zealand? Such as not being able to get ingredients?
(Depending on where they are from) Ask about takeaways here and restaurants. Such as Indian. Is this anything like the food you cook or have had in your homeland? Does it devalue your cultural experiences?
What was it like eating (insert country) food growing up in New Zealand?
